This is truly vile. Why would anybody besides a right-wing propaganda machine give these two a platform? I’d love to hear their thoughts on torture, civil liberties, bloodshed in Iraq, tax breaks for the wealthy, stealing elections… Really disappointing that the Y would host this event.

I think it great that Laura and Jenna Bush have written a book and plan on donating part of their proceeds to charity...however, I would like to know who pays for the enormous travel expenses associated with the book tour. I would expect that under normal circumstances, the publishing company covers the cost of travel; however I doubt that is the case for the Bushes. I doubt that they are flying commercial...and how many secret service officials have to go to each local area to in advance to prepare for their visit and how many agents travel with them. Additionally, there will probably be extra cost to local law enforcement to arrange for security. I would like to know the entire cost to the taxpayers for the book signing trip.  I hope Mrs Bush and her daughter will do the right thing and pay for all of their travel costs. I have always been a very loyal, conservative Republican, but this is too much ! (I really doubt that you will let this comment appear on your website)

I truly enjoyed the segment on the Today Show Tues., April 22, featuring First Lady Laura Bush and daughter, Jenna. I wish everyone had a passion for reading and teaching young children to read as this mother and daughter have done through the years. As a great-grandmother I really appreciated the comment Jenna made that watching tv was not a priority when they were growing up and when they had free time they usually spent it doing what their parents were doing and that was reading. What a fine example to be remembered by. I hope to get a copy of “Read All About It” for my home library and for our great-grandson who will soon be 4 and loves to be read to.

As a teacher, I feel that this a positive experience to bring the first lady in the public to discuss this issue. It is sad that this was called vile by the user above. No Child Left Behind has a huge emphasis on reading. A lot of children have the same feelings as the main character in the story, so they can directly relate. If children can become excited about reading, then test scores will go up because there is the motivation to read more. It goes hand-in-hand with current educational issues. I am excited to see Mrs. Bush and her daughter Jenna in Kansas City this month!

Ha ha, I love how the shills have come out to defend this ridiculous trainwreck. I’m sorry, the Bush family certainly does have priorities but education is so low down on the totem pole as to be ignored. This little rainbows-and-sunshine tour can only make thinking people wonder all the more: why don’t we as a nation have the courage and moral rectitude to call for impeachment and the commencement of war crimes trials?

I have enjoyed the recent interviews about this book from Laura and Jenna Bush.  Promoting reading is great in any way, shape or form.  Kids to excell when they have an avid interest in reading!  Their discussions have certainly caused me to go and buy books for our home, childrens’ teachers and principal.  Good job.

Promoting literacy for children is one of the most patriotic things that we can do. I don’t care if it is Hillary and Chelsie or Jenna and Laura, all of our children benefit from anyone that takes the time to read a book to a child.

Thank you to anyone who promotes reading! Laura and Jenna Bush, I hope you inspire others to donate proceeds from their books- sending another ripple into the river of literacy, affecting generations of children yet to come into this incredible world.

I very much enjoy the First Lady and Laura Bush. I don’t know how any educated human being can say that promoting reading is VILE!  I hope whoever wrote that visits their local public education facility soon, that is where they will see vile!  I voted for President Bush and his father in all elections. I nor is any other American, Republican or Democrat, going to be pleased 100% with decisions made by any President!  I do believe in supporting prayerfully whoever is in office at the time.  As far as the Bush’s book tour, I am very excited for Mrs. Bush and Laura and wish them both the very best!  If they come to Greensboro, NC, I will be first in line to greet them!

It is too bad the Bush clan stole the name of Jim Trelease’s book “Read All About It”, Penguin ed. 1993 for their own use. Not only that, but Mr Trelease is one of the leading spokespeople for “reading aloud” while we are lead to believe Laura and Jenna just invented it.

These past 7 years, under the worst Administration possible, have certainly been an education for me! Why have these two been given a platform, when there are thousands of teachers and librarians--real heroes who actively promote reading and inspire kids everyday--who offer far more legitimacy and experience? I’d much rather hear from them.

I READ TO MY THREE DAUGHTERS EVERY NIGHT FOR YEARS-SOMETIMES FOR AS LONG AS 4 HOURS!
THE GIRLS TELL ME THAT THIS ACTIVITY WAS THEIR FAVORITE. WE NOW HAVE 2 GRAND-SONS AND I DECIDED TO MAKE “READ ALL ABOUT IT” THEIR FIRST READ! JUST LOVE HOW WELL THESE TWO LADIES PRESENT THEMSELVES AND WISH THEM GREAT SUCCESS WITH THIS BOOK. MUCH ADMIRATION! A FORMER ART TEACHER AND WRITER.

As a teacher myself, I have valued a First Lady who has promoted reading and education for the past seven years. She has promoted rebuilding school libraries in the Gulf Coast region through her foundation. She visits school throughout our country. I find her a first class lady. She will be hard to follow as a First lady.

I took my 13 year old daughter this week to Borders and was honored to attend the Dallas booksigning with Laura and Jenna Bush.  And I suppose to the hate-filled lefty Rosemary who’s worried about who’s paying for the trip, well Rosemary, I’d say it’s the same people who paid for Clinton’s $450 haircut and the set of china that Hillary stole from the White House when they left it. Enough said.

I’m sorry to see there are still a few people that love to be negative and can not seem to be happy with them selves and have to constanstly put people down.  NO ONE is perfect and, not that I think it is a mistake to help the people in Iraq, people do make mistakes, as I am sure Disappointed has please put a smile on your face and know that I will pray for you to have a better day and out look on life.  As far as the book I think it is wonderful and touching that they want to give back to the American communities as a show of their appreciation.  I can’t wait to see what they do next.

If they do come to Greensboro, NC, be sure to greet them as Mrs. Bush and Jenna - not Mrs. Bush and Laura.  It would just VILE if you continued referring to the daughter by the mother’s name, enormous Bush fan that you are, Nichole.  And, Paula, your 13-year-old ought to be at a higher reading level by now. Bush’s education policies at work!
