Speaking of bibliophilia, Pulitzer Prize-winning novelists Sam Shepard and Richard Ford will also be here Thursday, as The New York Times notes today. Shepard and Ford have been friends for years, and they last appeared here together back in 1997. Shepard, who happens to be one of the few Academy Award-nominated actors to ever receive a Pulitzer, will read for the first time from a work-in-progress scheduled to be published in 2008 by Knopf. The title, subject and form of the piece—the first since his 2005 play, The God of Hell—have not been announced. Ford will read from his just-published book, The Lay of the Land.
