The Manny’s 92nd Street Y Origins

Holly Peterson’s The Manny, a book about a male nanny hired by a Park Avenue mom for her children, debuted at #16 on the New York Times hardcover fiction bestseller list in July and has been a roaring success since. It picked up buzz from celebrity gossip blogs and there’s even a YouTube video for it starring Karen Duffy and other New York socialites. You can read a book excerpt and online Q&A with Peterson on MSNBC.com.

Along with the “very naughty Joel Schumacher” and a list of hot shot names, Peterson credits Joe Caldwell’s Advanced Fiction workshop at the 92nd Street Y with helping her to complete the book. A scan from the acknowledgments:

Look for more classes in the Unterberg Poetry Center Writing Program and maybe you’ll be the next bestseller, or sitting next to one.
