Video: [ZØGMA] Rapaillé

[ZØGMA] is a highly praised urban dance collective that draws on Quebec folklore and heritage to fuse a variety of forms and styles. Inspired by the rhythmic text of French-Canadian poet Gaston Miron (1928-1996), their latest production, Rapaillé, comprises a multidimensional range of motion that is powerful and redefining the limits of percussive dance. Its U.S. premiere will be at the 92nd Street Y’s Harkness Dance Festival in February. The video above offers a glimpse of what Linda Corbo of Le Nouvelliste called:

A beautifully poetic choreography, where the five dancers charmed their audience as they delivered precision, confidence, expressivity and a calculated nonchalance that made you forget the complexity of their technique, keeping you spellbound by the lightness of matter. Uplifting, absolutely compelling.
