Next Week at the 92nd Street Y

Harold Bloom· Lit Celebs Agree: Walt Whitman Rocks: Harold Bloom, Michael Cunningham and J.D. McClatchy celebrate Whitman’s Leaves of Grass on Monday, December 12. Bloom has a new book out, too.

· Not Just a Presidential Biographer: The author of Dutch: A Memoir of Ronald Reagan and Theodore Rex returns to the Y. Edmund Morris will be discussing and reading from his new biography of Beethoven on Tuesday, December 13. For a sneak preview, check out his interview with Kurt Andersen.

· Let the Snark Fly: Gawker editor Jessica Coen might just be the most sarcastic woman in New York. When we interviewed her, she casually chatted about Fred Durst’s sex tapes and Condoleezza Rice’s shoe-shopping habits. And she’s even funnier in person, which you have no excuse not to find out on Thursday, December 15.

· From Stuy to the 92nd Street Y: Angela’s Ashes and ‘Tis author (and all-around good guy) Frank McCourt will read from his new memoir Teacher Man and tell stories of the public-school life on Thursday, December 15. Go. His work is meant to be heard.

· Now She’s the One Being Interviewed: Barbara Walters has interviewed a who’s-who of the political and media elite and made history more than a few times. And on Sunday, December 18, you can see her on the other side of the interview chair when she sits down with Jeff Greenfield.

On the Agenda: eighth blackbird

eighth blackbirdSpeaking of music critics, The New Yorker‘s Alex Ross is one of our favorites. But we didn’t realize he had a blog until Saturday night’s eighth blackbird show here made his December agenda.

It’s going to be a great show. Learn more about eighth blackbird here.
