on February 7 at 92YTribeca. Kicking off New York Fashion Week, State of Style Summit – presented by 92Y, StyleCaster Media Group and by Ford - is packed with amazing panels; check out the full schedule here.
Prozzi was gracious enough to participate in the 92Y Culture Klatsch Q&A. What kind of radio does he listen to? “101.9, Detroit’s NPR all day, and late weekend nights I come across something broadcasting from the University of Windsor, Canada.” Read more below.
Where do you go for news when you start your day?
The New York Times app from my iphone; followed by a multitude of texts and emails from some very well read friends.
What are your favorite websites?
Obviously NYTimes.com and JWTintelligence.com for news and trends; ssense.com and ok-ni.com to shop; vmagazine.com and visionaireworld.com for inspiration and countless others. It’s extraordinary to think what the internet has done with access and availability of information.
How much do you use Twitter and Facebook (or other social networking services)?
I’m not one to “ tweet .” I’m not the best facebooker either. I prefer my privacy, but when I took first place in a skating championship it felt good to post and hear congrats from my friends around the globe.
What book are you currently reading (or the last one you read)? Print or digital?
Heaven is for Real, Todd Burpo; The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali; Graphic Design in Swiss Industry, Hans Neuburg. All in print. The Neuburg book is rare and out of print. It’s become my design bible.
What magazines do you subscribe to?
The New York Times online is the only one I subscribe to. I’m very fortunate to receive a lot of magazines gratis.
What are your current (or all time) favorite television shows?
“All on the Line” featuring Joe Zee. I was obsessed with the first season and anxiously awaiting the next. “Downton Abbey” - I sorta wish I was around to experience that era. Maybe I’m a romantic?
What’s the last movie you saw?
Warhorse. I was blown away. And The Iron Lady; Ms. Streep will win an Oscar!
What’s the last performance (dance/opera/theater) you attended?
Threepenney Opera at BAM’s Next Wave Festival directed by Robert Wilson. I used to live in Park Slope, Brooklyn and miss being able to walk to the Brooklyn Academy of Music terribly.
What’s the last music purchase you made?
Mishima/Closing by Philip Glass about 20 minutes from when I started writing this. It’s inspiring a skating program perhaps an automobile as well.
What radio shows or podcasts do you listen to?
101.9, Detroit’s NPR all day, and late weekend nights I come across something broadcasting from the University of Windsor, Canada.
What’s your favorite piece of art on display in your home?
A work done by Jayden Baldas; he’s 8 years old and artistically mature beyond his years.
Where do you go / what do you do to “disconnect”?
Yoga...as much as I can. My favorite studio is Be Nice Yoga in Downtown Detroit - unbelievable views of the city. I took up figure skating as an adult; the sense of flight when skating helps me to let go. As my yoga teacher would say, it’s a moving meditation.
