Screen grab from Hitchcock’s Vertigo
A. O. Scott at the New York Times revisits Alfred Hitchcock’s Vertigo. In a video clip the Times put together, video producer Gabe Johnson says:“This movie shows Hitchcock at the very pinnacle of his powers. It’s so tightly constructed and seamlessly edited. The music by Bernard Herrmann is one of the most fantastic film scores ever written and the views of San Francisco...are just breathtaking.”
On their ArtsBeat blog, the Times goes on to invite their readers to comment and “...share your thoughts on the film and what you consider to be Mr. Hitchcock’s best work.” In turn, we would like to invite you and them to 92Y on Oct 29 for Mystery: The Lady Vanishes, Rebecca, Vertigo, where we will view and discuss scenes from these films and others from Hitchcock.
