The New York Times on Wednesday published an article on former Governor of the State of New York Eliot Spitzer and his careful return to public life, making reference to his many appearances on television, lecturing at City College of New York, attending notable restaurants and charity galas holding hands with his wife and writing online. He is “essentially back,” declared The Times.
Including back at the 92nd Street Y, (he was last here in November of 2009) on May 2 when Spitzer will be interviewed by Jeff Greenfield, the CBS political analyst.
Greenfield told The Times the difference between Spitzer’s troubles and those of Governor John Edwards, for instance, is that Spitzer “took swift responsibility and did penance.” This was legitimately a private failure, Mr. Greenfield said. A serious one, that made him no longer able to be governor. If he were trying to talk about moral rearmament, it would be appropriate to say, ‘Hold it.’ But he is talking about how to prevent another financial meltdown, and he’s in a pretty interesting position to talk about that.
Join both men on May 2 at the 92Y for discussion on these issues and more. Tickets are available here, and can also be purchased in a subscription for the series: In the News with Jeff Greenfield.
As well, if you have any questions for Mr. Spitzer, leave them here in the comments so we can consider them during the Q&A. If your question is used on stage, (we’re known to do just that!) you will receive two free tickets to any upcoming lecture of your choice, pending availability.
