The second Mashable NextUp NYC event was held at 92YTribeca this week, bringing together the minds behind New York’s most successful startups. Shown in the video clip above, the local startup community speaks about projects in their infancy and the startups that have grown into thriving small to medium-sized businesses. Presenters included: Philip James, CEO and Mark Angelillo CTO of Snooth, Melanie Notkin, Founder and CEO, Savvy Auntie, Michael Galpert, Co-Founder of Aviary, Scott Belsky, Founder and CEO of Behance and a closing presentation by Adam Ostrow, Editor-in-Chief of Mashable.
The first Mashable event was widely reported on across the interwebs. This one was no different, which makes sense, as Vanity Fairsmartly pointed out this week: “The Internet, for now, is made largely of words.” And these kids enjoy sharing them. Here is a smattering of live tweets that were sent from the talk:
“Snooth CEO thinks US doesn’t know F1 racing & startups won’t fail focusing on great prods, leaving focus on rent & taxes for later. Wrong.” @jfcorrigan
“Melanie from @savvyauntie says launching site pre- recession was best thing she could’ve done bc of Twitter- ‘best marketing tool out there’”. @sydneysarachan
“@savvyauntie-ad inquiries came in 1st few hours after launch-result of powerful niche+strong product+social influence #mashable” @fredericguarino
If you want in on the fun, the next Mashable NextUp NYC: Social Media Marketing 101 is coming up on Jun 3 as part of Internet Week NY. Following the event, 92YTribeca will host tech karaoke. Oh yah.
