Gotta Dance for the New Jersey Nets, Even if You’re 65 Years Old
Gotta Dance, seen in the trailer above, captures the adventures of the first-ever senior citizen hip hop dance team for the New Jersey Nets Basketball Team. The documentary followed around the senior citizens during auditions, learning the different routines, and performing them at games, including the swollen ankles, exhausting rehearsals, fashion clashes and seemingly impossible dance steps. Cinematical.com was delighted: “While it might sound somewhat cheesy, I had just as much fun watching seniors dance to hip-hop music than I did watching Iron Man over the weekend. Seriously.”
On Jul 29 downtown, 92YTribeca will be screening the film to be followed by discussion with the filmmaker Dori Berinstein, a veteran Broadway producer and director, and columnist Steve Ramos. In addition, there will be a performance by the stars of the film, the NETSational Seniors.
If people were delighted watching the film, we can only imagine the smiles in the room at 92YTribeca when people see them perform the routines live. As they say, shake what yo mama gave ya.
