Howie Mandel’s Obsessions

imageHe is one of the most successful working comedians in America today, earning $15 million dollars last year. And Howie Mandel, comedian and host of ABC’s hit gameshow Deal or No Deal, suffers from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, mysophobia (a fear of germs) and ADHD. He has recently begun speaking out about his illness, appearing on ABC’s 20/20, and writing a book, Here’s the Deal: Don’t Touch Me, a humorous memoir about his struggles with OCD.

During the 20/20 segment, we learned that Mandel uses brand new makeup kits everyday on the set of his game show, has a house in the backyard of his house that he uses to escape the germs in his families home, and has checked the lock on his front door 32 times before believing it was indeed locked.

Tomorrow evening, Wed, Dec 2, Mandel will join Dr. Gail Saltz at 92Y to speak out about his lifelong struggle with mental illness, and the steps he takes to help him control and manage his obsessions and fears. Use code HOWM at checkout to receive a 50% discount off the ticket price.
