Something for those with Thursday off or those working on the Upper West Side: On Thursday, December 8, science writer Mariana Gosnell will be stopping by the Steinhardt Building to read from her new book, Ice: The Nature, the History, and the Uses of This Astonishing Substance.

Ice made the Times Book Review this week, where it was called the “Kama Sutra for pagophiles.” And thanks to the Times we learned a new word: lover of ice—pagophile.
