Jenny Lin on Piano: “remarkably fluid and theatrically imaginative”

Video of 92Y piano teacher in Cooking for Jenny, a musical documentary by Felix Cabez

The Wall Street Journal penned a piece today about the music of Russian composer Dmitri Shostakovich (1906-1975), specifically his 24 Preludes and Fugues. With regard to interpretations of the piece by Western pianists, the Wall Street Journal writes:

...we have had to wait until today for a wholly exuberant, indisputably triumphant interpretation that fully realizes Shostakovich’s intentions.

...none captures the dizzying diversity, the range of experience from the moribund to the ecstatic, as does the remarkably fluid and theatrically imaginative Ms. Lin. Even though Shostakovich did not intend his 24 Preludes and Fugues to be heard complete, they are such a delight as presented by Ms. Lin that the listener would be at a loss to do without any one of these miniature masterpieces.

Jenny Lin and other talented and acclaimed teachers offer private lessons here at the 92nd Street Y School of Music. For more information, call 212.415.5580 or email.
