Black and Blakeman
Manhattan resident Lewis Black, a Grammy Award-winning comedian known for his biting commentary on American politics delivered in angry rants, and Scott Blakeman, called “the top political comedian working in New York today” by NBC, will appear together in conversation on February 3 at the 92nd Street Y. Black’s commentary and comedy often pokes fun at the class divides and frictions that run through American life, divides that are commonly overlooked or ignored by our media outlets though are seen clearly by him. For example: Then of course, there’s Dennis Kozlowski. He took from his company 463 million dollars because, well, he had to buy sh*t. Are you kiddin’ me? He gets on the phone: I’d like all the corn in Iowa… ‘Cause I’m having a ho-down.
Neither men are afraid of tackling hot button issues, with Blakeman maintaining a political humor blog whose favorite target of late has been Israel’s military campaign in Gaza which you can see in his most recent post, Israel Seeks Three Hour Ceasefire for Screen Actors Guild Awards Show.
However, don’t tell Lewis Black about Scott’s blog, as Lewis seems to have a special invective for blogging, railing against blogs on CNN and on his own television show.
