Oprah Picks Elie Wiesel

Elie WieselJust days after Oprah Winfrey’s book-club choice of James Frey’s A Million Little Pieces caused so much controversy, Ms. Winfrey announced the latest addition to her all-powerful club: Elie Wiesel’s Night.

Night is Wiesel’s powerful, deeply moving account of his experiences in the Nazi death camps during the Holocaust. Winfrey said the book “should be required reading for all humanity.”

Seeing Mr. Wiesel in person is not required but we highly recommend it. Wiesel has been a part of the 92nd Street Y family for decades. His current lecture series, The Shaping of Our Collective Jewish Character, has two events remaining in the spring: A Yearning for Learning on March 30 and Come Celebrate! on April 6.
