Sammy Cahn was an Academy Award-winning lyricist, songwriter and musician, best known for his romantic lyrics to tin pan alley and Broadway songs, as recorded by Frank Sinatra, Doris Day and many others. "Love and Marriage," "Three Coins in the Fountain," and "Call Me Irresponsible" are just a few of his recognizable words. He performed at the Y's long-running Lyrics & Lyricists series in March 1972 which was recorded and released as the album, An Evening with Sammy Cahn. This season of Lyrics & Lyricists will be paying tribute with five shows titled "It's Magic: The Lyrics of Sammy Cahn" starting this Saturday.
