Really Hungry Bloggers

Food bloggers Browne, Friedland and StrongPart of the fun of blogs are that people get to write about their passions. Registan, for example, was started by an ex-Peace Corps volunteer as a means to communicate his experiences in Central Asia. It quickly became an invaluable news source for journalists covering the unrest in Uzbekistan and the Kyrgyz Republic. Maud Newton blogs about books. Preshrunk is a blog about T-shirts. And the list goes on.

For New York-based blogger Adam Kuban, that obsession is pizza—Kuban’s Slice is dedicated to the food favorite. Whether he’s writing about Manhattan classics like Lombardi’s or Patsy’s, outerborough spots like DiFara’s or Totonno’s or even foreign takes on pizza in Vietnam and Scotland, Kuban lives, eats and breathes pizza. And that was before he started his burger blog, A Hamburger Today.

Kuban and fellow internet food gurus Alaina Browne (A Full Belly), Josh Friedland (The Food Section) and Andrea Strong (The Strong Buzz) are all getting together at the Y’s West Side center Makor on Thursday, June 16 to talk about what it takes to be a food writer and, more importantly, where the best food in New York is to be had. Self-proclaimed foodies and potential niche bloggers take note.
