Shopping in The New Millennia

image
Shopping in Soho / Credit: beckains

From invite only websites like Gilt, websites dedicated to all things fashion such as Racked.com, and a proliferation of Twitters filling beauty and fashion niches, shopping has become something of a bloodsport where you can get what you want, when you want it, at a better price, Noting only a few of those Twitters helping you, here in New York City we have @nycshopping, @StyleLikeU, and @beautylab.

In a nod to the new paradigm, Twitter has recently announced plans develop more refined shopping advice with their service, as well as allowing a purchase to be made after you’ve inquired about those Louboutin‘s you absolutely must have.

Clearly, the market is changing radically. For help keeping a leg up on all these changes, next week on Jul 23 92YTribeca is hosting The New World of Sales with Racked.com. Racked editor Izzy Grinspan, Alexis Maybank, the co-founder of online sample sale phenomenon The Gilt Groupe, and Michael Townsend, the owner of Nolita’s innovative outlet boutique Inven-tory, will all be on hand to discuss the New World Fashion Order. Miss this at your own peril.

p.s. If our readers know of any other shopping and beauty Twitters, please leave them below in the comments. Having a list like that available to any would prove very useful. So please, let us and everyone else know!
