From left to right: Richmond County Bank Ballpark, Hyatt St, and St. George Theater
The creation of Fresh Kill Park in Staten Island is scheduled to take place over the next next 30 years, when finished it will be almost three times the size of Central Park and the largest park developed in New York City in over 100 years. The next several years will see public access to the interior of the site being built, and maybe even a billboard or two.
In the meantime, we have our Staten Island Waterfront and St. George tour under way, the next one is Jul 12. We’ll be visiting the St. George area of Staten Island, the new esplanade and 9/11 memorial, the ballpark where the Staten Island Yankees play, the newly renovated St. George theater and more. Because as nice as it might be to get on the ferry and ride it back and forth between the islands, New York City has five boroughs. Getting off the ferry and visiting “Staten Island’s wonderland” is something you will wish you had done years ago.
