The Adventures of Baron Munchausen

Video: Trailer for The Adventures of the Baron of Munchausen

Director Terry Gilliam is still looking for a muse after all these years. In 1988, he came close to finding one when he cast an unknown Uma Thurman in the role of Venus/Rose in The Adventures of the Baron of Munchausen. But, he tells Black Book magazine: “she left him for another rebel named Quentin,” and never returned. :(

Next Friday, Dec 4, 92YTribeca is showing The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, a film that has an 85% rating on the influential film review website Rotten Tomatoes. “The special effects are astonishing,” wrote Roger Ebert, “but so is the humor with which they are employed.”

Purchase tickets to the film here, part of the series Dark Neverending Adventures: Fantasy Films of the 1980s.

Upcoming Films at 92YTribeca:

  • The Iron Mule Short Comedy Film Festival: Dec 5
  • Beyond Ipanema: Brazilian Waves in Global Music (Ondas Brasileiras Na Música Global):  Dec 10. Part of the series Cinema Tropical‘s Music + Film Series: Janeiro in New York.
