Together One Day: PS 22 Children’s Chorus And Matisyahu

PS 22 Children’s Chorus sing Matisyahu’s One Day

If you not familiar with The PS 22 Children’s Chorus, this recent Flavorwire post is a good place to start:

For the past decade, the fifth graders chorus at PS22, the largest elementary school on Staten Island, have attained internet fame with their covers of modern day pop songs, ranging from the work of Tori Amos to Lady Gaga to The Beatles. Led by multi-instrumentalist Gregg Breinberg, these elementary schoolers sing with feeling and heart, which is evident in their unpredictably soulful renditions. Riding the wave of yesterday’s buzz from The Village Voice, MTV, and Teen Vogue sparked by their new arrangement of Phoenix’s “Listzomania,” we’ve rounded up nine additional favorites from the PS22 back catalog.

As you can see, the chorus has been making quite a splash. Perez Hilton is one of their biggest fans.

Next Tue, Mar 16, the chorus will be at the 92nd Street Y when they join reggae musician and international superstar Matisyahu to perform his hit One Day, the official song of the 2010 Olympics.

Matisyahu will also talk with moderator Thane Rosenbaum about his career and latest record Light, as well as perform a few more songs. Tickets are available here.
