Video: Ishmael Beah on Children and War

Ishmael Beah, author of the New York Times bestseller A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier, which details his experiences fighting a civil war in his native Sierra Leone, talked with Dr. Gail Saltz at the Y in September 2007 about how children are affected by war. Rescued by UNICEF, Beah eventually moved to the United States and is now a member of the Human Rights Watch Children’s Rights Division Advisory Committee. Dr. Gail Saltz is a psychoanalyst, author and contributor to the Today show. In the video clip above they discuss the use of drugs in the manipulation of child soldiers.
