What’s next for Patti LuPone? That’s what The New York Times asked yesterday at ArtsBeat. LuPone is currently on stage in the Broadway musical Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, “letting her diva flag fly,” which closes on Jan. 23. What comes next? The Times speculates:
Among the projects that the two-time Tony Award winner (“Gypsy,” “Evita,”) is considering is a return to the center-stage spotlight as another diva, the title character in the musical “Hello, Dolly!”
Nederlander Presentations has been developing a revival of the show with Ms. LuPone in the central role of a spirited, meddling matchmaker in New York, and Ms. LuPone is eager to make the show happen, according to two people who work in Broadway theater and have spoken with the producers and Ms. LuPone about the project.
Maybe she’ll go into more detail when she’s here with Jordan Roth on February 6.
Speaking of, what would you ask Ms. LuPone? Let us know! Leave your questions for her in the comments of this post; if your question is used during the Q&A of her appearance, we will provide you two tickets to an upcoming lecture of your choice, pending availability. So get questioning!
